The second of our walk and stay series was from St. German’s to Padstow in April 2019.
A group of walkers made it the whole way from St. German’s to Padstow and we also had walkers who joined for the day walks and shorter sections.
We stayed in different churches and village halls along the Cornish Celtic Way route (possible budget accommodation options for Cornish Celtic Way passport holders) and were warmly welcomed by churches and chapels all along the walks so we had lots of cake and coffee to keep us going!
The group were really lucky with the weather and it only rained overnight. We even needed suncream!
Here’s a few pictures from our walk…
A walk scented with coconut from the yellow gorse blossoming in the sunshine.
This is an aqueduct half way up the slope. The Treffry Viaduct is in the trees. (Blue star in CCW book p46)
One of our stop-overs: Gunwen Chapel, Lowertown. Greatfacilities – thank you- and excellent fish and chips from nearby Lanivet. (CCW book p52)
We took turns to drive a car with our baggage and support the walkers too.
Resting with Nelson in Looe. (Blue star in the CCW book p25)
Horses, cattle, sheep- calves and lambs too. We had a dairy farmer with us to help dodge the cattle. Some days we had several dogs with us and although the advice is to let dogs off the lead near cattle , sometimes we made a small detour.
Lots of thanks to the church here at Tywardreath for pasties, cake and a wonderful welcome.
